Catalysts for Community

By Rebecca Alderson, Director of Human Resources

In the world of business, where success is often measured by profit margins and market share, there are individuals who leave a permanent mark not just on their own companies, but on their surrounding communities, too. Our founder Jeff Mascott was one such person—a true advocate for community involvement and service.

We believe that when people are given opportunities to do what they do best, they become catalysts for positive change in their communities.

At Adfero, we strive to emulate Jeff's spirit by creating an environment where individuals can leverage their unique talents and passions beyond their occupational identities. We believe that when people are given opportunities to do what they do best, they become catalysts for positive change in their communities. It's a ripple effect of empowerment and engagement that resonates far beyond our office walls.

Our core value "Harambee," meaning "all pull together" in Swahili, encapsulates Jeff's vision perfectly. It's about coming together as a collective force to uplift and support one another, especially in times of need. Beyond our most recent volunteer work with the Capital Area Food Bank and Sibley Memorial Hospital, one cause that remains close to our hearts is the fight against pancreatic cancer.

Adfero Sibley Memorial
Last fall, Adfero assembled goody bags for patients and caregivers at Sibley Memorial Hospital in honor of November’s Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.

For a second year, Adfero staff, alumni and friends in our community participated in PurpleStride, the 5k walk hosted by the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. In the months leading up to the event, we were proud to offer our support and resources to those impacted by this illness: from fundraising events to volunteer initiatives, we are committed to making a tangible difference in the lives of patients, caregivers and researchers alike, for our local DC community and the larger PanCAN network.

On April 27, Team Adfero participated in the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s PurpleStride 5K, walking, running and fundraising in support of pancreatic cancer research.

Our core values, philanthropic and volunteer efforts and commitment to Jeff’s vision fuel our belief in the power of collective action. By mobilizing individuals to contribute to their communities in meaningful ways, we strive to be agents of positive change in the world around us and hope to lay the groundwork for impact on a global scale.
